Description
What now stands as the Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library in Wilmington, Delaware was originally a grand country estate created by Henry Francis du Pont in the early 20th century. H.F. du Pont was intent on creating both a beautiful and comfortable home, so he furnished it with American antiques, fine art, and decorative objects. These items were created by the top American craftsmen between 1640 and 1860. The Newport Bracelet is modeled after an antique chair in the Winterthur Collection. The chair was crafted in the 18th century in Newport Rhode Island and is on display in the Newport Room at Winterthur. The pierced swirls on our handcrafted bracelet mimic the beautiful design carved on the chair back.
