Stegosaurus is part of a group of dinosaurs known as Stegosauria, who lived during the late Jurassic Period around 150 million years ago.  An average sized Stegosaurus was around 30 feet in length and 14 feet in height. The 17 plates along their back rose from the skin rather than being attached to the skeleton. They also had tail spikes that could be 2-3 feet in length!
