Such books provide historians and horticulturalists with important insight into the gardening practices of centuries past.Named after a plant synonymous with Colonial Williamsburg, this pattern was inspired by an 18th - century seersucker textile in the museum collection. The original East Indian name for seersucker was shir-o-shakkar, which meant "milk and sugar".
